The Broderick Road purchase is now complete!

Warm greetings to you all,

Here’s some more great news about our school:

The Broderick Road purchase is now complete!

This week the purchase of the site at Broderick Road, Johnsonville, has been officially completed! Andrew Kissling (Chair of the Peniel Trust which now owns the building) says that:

“this is a momentous and God-led outcome that has involved years of prayer, hundreds of meetings, fundraising, property searching, negotiations with the Ministry of Education, delicate negotiations with the vendor, working with neighbours, negotiations with purchasers of Camperdown Rd, design and planning, and governance. Truly none of this would have been possible without the diligent effort of so many people over such a long period of time.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14 springs to mind:

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body – whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free – and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

This might be a finishing line of sorts, but in truth the hard work now moves into a different gear as we have a school to build, to resource, and to open in time for the 2025 school year”.

This purchase now triggers an avalanche of work as all the contractors get under way renovating the building to be ready for February 2025. Fortunately, while we were waiting for the purchase to be completed, there has been much preparatory work done to ensure all the different contractors have been lined up and are ready to go. We are so grateful for God’s gracious hand on this project and that he makes all things beautiful in his time.

Next Community update evening, and a chance to meet our new Principal of WHCC.

Our next community update evening is on Monday 26th August at 7.30pm, and will be held at the Maranatha School, 180 Hill Road, Belmont, Lower Hutt. This is a great opportunity to come along and meet our new Principal for WHCC. We will also be sharing the latest developments and progress on the building project and praying for the school.

A message from Tim Kuipers, Principal of Wellington Hills Christian College

Greetings from the South Island to the MCS and WHCC Communities. It was a pleasure to meet so many welcoming parents, teachers and students on my first trip to Miramar last month. The Canterbury plains and frosts were certainly very different to the Wellington mountains and seas but the people were just as friendly. Image

I feel privileged to be joining a devoted and professional team with such a Godly vision and purpose. It has been very encouraging to see all the prayers and work being offered into the school.

The first value on the school website is Faith and says We passionately follow Jesus, integrating faith into big moments and everyday life. This strikes me as so very relevant in the current stage of the school’s development.

I look forward to joining many of you on the 26th of August and getting to know many of you.

Blessings,

Tim Kuipers

Enrolments

Many of our families have already completed an enrolment interview for Wellington Hills Christian College (WHCC) and our Principal for 2025 onwards, Tim Kuipers, has been completing more interviews during his visits to Wellington. Tim has mentioned how impressed he has been at the calibre of families coming to interview, eager for their children to enjoy the benefits of a Christian education.

There has been a wonderful uptake of families enrolling their children. There are still spaces in most classes for you to consider enrolling your children so please submit your enrolment forms if you have not done this already. We will shortly be advertising more widely in Wellington to ensure other Christian families who are unaware of the school’s opening in 2025 can also apply.

Our best advocates for our school are our current families so please feel free to share the great news of WHCC and its website (WHCC.school.co.nz) with your friends and post on your social media.

Our new Website

Please visit our school’s new website whcc.school.nz and join our mailing list if you haven’t already. This site is now the primary source of information about our school. We will be uploading short video blogs of the building renovation progress, updates from Principal Tim, and other school info.

Please continue to pray for our school and all those working to see it open at the beginning of the 2025 school year.  We know that raising our children in the ways they should live brings blessing to their lives and the communities they will engage with. Christian Education is a powerful tool in this journey.
